IMAGINE 3.0 MODEL OF SONGOKUU FROM DRAGONBALL
---------------------------------------------
Hi all Dragonball fans,
I'm providing two Imagine 3.0 models of an adult Songokuu from the Dragonball Z
manga/anime. The first one is a crude prototype which barely resembles the
real(?) thing. From the experience of building the prototype, the second model
looks much more faithful to the original character.
The second model has been used in a simple anim I uploaded to ftp.funet.fi and
aminet. I also have an FLC version of the anim for PC users, since Imagine 3.0
is also available on PCs and they might be interested.
A 24-bit 640x512 JPEG image of the lastest version is also included. Use your
favourite JPEG viewer to view the picture. The output generated from the models
in this archive may vary.
REQUIREMENTS
------------
I have a A1200, 40MHz EC030, 4 MB Fast. You'll need Imagine 3.0, and enough
memory to load and render the models. An accelerator is highly recommended if
you are running below 20MHz :)
HOW TO USE
----------
There are three IFF texture maps, one for Songokuu's face, one for his ears,
and one for the logo.
The logo on Songokuu's vest initially read "kame", which means tortoise, since
he is a disciple of kame-sennin. Later, it was changed to "go", his middle name,
which means "become enlightened". If you check the archive you'll find that I
only provided the "kame" logo :P. This means that for the second model you'll
have to rename the brush under the vest object's attributes in the Detail
Editor.
Another thing you'll have to modify is the face map. I've only provided the IFF
map of the prototype model. The *second model* uses a slightly different face,
so you'll have to adjust the placement of the brush in addition to renaming it
from the object's attribute requestor. I suggest removing the hair and the nose
from the IFF leaving only the eyes and mouth.
The ear texture has not problems.
Don't forget to rename all the paths to load the textures or Imagine will not
be able to find them.
LEGAL ISSUES
------------
The Songokuu character from Dragonball is copyright of Toriyama Akira, the
original creator of the Dragonball manga. The models contained in this archive
may not be sold, modified or used in any way except for personal viewing. Of
course, you may use the models as a basis for your own characters, as long as
the final product does not infringe any copyrighted likenesses. Send me a copy
too!
I've always wanted to create humanoid synthetic actors using 3D graphics,
so here are the fruits of my first experiments. If anyone has idea or technique
for modelling and animating 3D animate objects (esp. humans), I'd love to hear
it!
I had fun creating these models. Please email your comments :)
